Calculation Methodology & Transparency

Our commitment to complete transparency: here is how we convert, compute, and present all commodity and exchange rate benchmarks.

1. Standard Unit Conversions

International bullion contracts trade on the Troy Ounce standard. We convert prices using high-precision constants:

1 Troy Ounce = 31.1034768 Grams
1 Kilogram = 1,000 Grams = 32.1507466 Troy Ounces

Price per gram formula:
Price Per Gram = Price Per Ounce / 31.1034768

2. Karat Purity Formulas

To calculate the estimated market value of lower-karat gold items, we multiply the 24K pure baseline rate by the certified fineness coefficient:

  • 24K (99.9% pure): Price × 0.999
  • 22K (91.6% pure): Price × 0.916
  • 21K (87.5% pure): Price × 0.875
  • 18K (75.0% pure): Price × 0.750
  • 14K (58.5% pure): Price × 0.585

3. Currency Conversion & Cross Rates

Direct conversion: Converted Value = Amount × Exchange Rate.
For currency pairs not quoted directly by the primary central bank feed, cross rates are derived using USD as the common bridge currency:
Cross Rate (A to B) = Rate(USD to B) / Rate(USD to A)

4. Data Status Indicators

To prevent misleading users, all displayed quotes carry an explicit status tag:

  • Live: Real-time tick feed with sub-minute latency.
  • Delayed: Real-market quotes delayed by provider terms (typically 15–30 minutes).
  • Daily Reference: Official once-per-business-day central bank fixing.
  • Stale / Unavailable: Feed connection interrupted or offline.
